Moonrise at Cesky Krumlov – Czech Republic
As the sun sets to the west, the moon rises between castle and church in the picturesque Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov during autumn.
Cesky Krumlov is one of the most surprisingly beautiful and enjoyable places I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. It was an add-on to my itinerary, en-route from Vienna to the Czech Republic’s most well known destination, Prague. I only wish we had stayed more than 1 night!
This vantage point is quite easy to find, and the amount of visitors at the top is a testament to that. Nonetheless, the best views of the entire town can be found here, and along other sections of the ramparts of Cesky Krumlov castle.
In this image, I tried to incorporate the vivid autumn colours in the trees, as well as the blue hour, lights of the town, and the moon! Quite a bit to fit in. This was successfully achieved not long after sunset, when there was still enough residual light to capture the colours of the leaves, but the lights of Cesky Krumlov were already on and the moon had risen.
Separate exposures were used to bring down the highlights on the castle itself, some of the walls, as well as the moon itself.
